Valentine’s Day Events in New York City

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and while most of us look upon this romantic holiday with feverish anticipation, some folks would rather spend a weekend trapped on a desert island with their in-laws, rather than go through the pressure of impressing their girlfriend on V-Day .
I recently asked dating expert Andrea Syrtash for some V-Day advice, but if you’re a New Yorker who’s still searching for that special way to say I Love You this Valentine’s Day, then check out the list below ‘cause there’s something for everyone on New York Buzz:
♥
If You’ve Got a Fat Wallet…then take your tzarina to the Russian Tea Room for an evening of luxury, refinement and classic elegance. On V-Day, the Russian Tea Room will be overflowing with roses, champagne and smooth music. Their special (and pricey) menu includes all the usual suspects: caviar, lobster, foie gras, chocolate… I think you get the idea.
♥
If You’re Desperately Seeking Coupledom…then consider enrolling in the “Prepare Yourself for Love” workshop (February 14, 2-4:30PM). Blaire Allison will teach you how to date differently – “in an easier, flowing, natural way”. Bring a pen and journal and learn how you can attract the right mate for you. Register at www.loveguru.net/workshops.html
♥
If You’re Young at Heart…and salmonella doesn’t scare you, then head over to Peanut Butter & Co. on V-Day where for $35 (per couple), lovebirds can feast on four heart-shaped sandwiches, potato chips and carrot sticks. Even cuter are the tall glasses of fresh milk (plain or strawberry pink) with heart-shaped straws for two that’ll accompany the meal. For dessert, dig into a PB & J Pretzel Sundae. Diners can even take home a free jar of Peanut Butter & Co.’s gourmet peanut butter.
♥
If You Like Your Massages with a Side of Chocolate…then check out the Delluva Day Spa and Salon where spa clients who book with the code CINY (Chocolate & I New York) receive a free wine and chocolate tasting with any spa service. Offer valid from February 9 to February 15.
♥
If You’re Looking for Some Family Fun…then take your kids to the Baby Loves Disco V-Day ball (Sunday, February 15, 1-4 PM, at le Poisson Rouge). Tots can enjoy healthy snacks, and kid-friendly fun with hula hoops, instruments, swirly scarves and lots of giveaways. Buy tickets online at www.babylovesdisco.com.
♥
If You Seek the Company of Angels…head over to Victoria’s Secret’s Lexington Avenue store (at 58th Street) on February 11 (6-8PM) and meet Angels Adriana Lima and Doutzen Kroes who will be signing autographs for anyone who makes a $60 purchase at the lingerie store.
♥
If You Like Your Chocolate Mobile…then you may like the Chocolate & Dessert Tasting Walking Tour (V-Day, 3PM). Lovers can stroll NYC while making stops at a variety of chocolate shops, bakeries and dessert bars. Top off your tasting tour with a chocolate soufflé and hot chocolate at Vintage Irving in Union Square. If you want to skip the tour, then consider Vintage Irving’s chocolate brunch – which includes sweet specials like Oysters & Pearls, Chocolate Trio and Pinenut Tart…
♥
If You’re Looking for a Wake Up Call…and you’re of the feminine sex, then you may want to head to the February 15 Borders reading of “What Was I Thinking?” (an anthology of stories by women describing the moment they knew their relationship was kaput). The 2PM reading will feature the co-editors of the anthology, Barbara Davilman and Liz Dubelman. Borders located at 576 Second Avenue.
♥
If You Want Chocolate, Chocolate, and More Chocolate…then what more could you want than a chocolate-themed extravaganza buffet and unlimited Champagne? Head over to Rise on the 14th floor of the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park (February 6th to the 28th, reservations required: 917-790-2600) where diners can feast on pastry chef Laurent Richard’s carnivalesque chocolate creations and a stunning view of New York harbor.
♥
If You’re Looking for a Gentleman’s Affair…you’ll love lingerie boutique La Perla’s “informal modeling” of their sexy collections, while sipping on complimentary scotch (Friday, February 13 from 5 to 8PM at Saks Fifth Avenue).
♥
If You Were Born Before World War II…your best bet is the V-Day dinner and dancing party on Valentine’s Day at Inside Park at St. Bart’s. Dine on a sumptuous 3-course dinner ($50) before reminiscing about the Roaring 20s with Gregory Moore & His Cosmopolitan Orchestra.
♥
So what are YOU doing this Valentine’s Day?
