Breast Cancer Prevention in Puerto Rico with Doral’s Ruta Pink Program
Launched last summer, as a collaboration between Doral Bank and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Ruta Pink is an innovative breast cancer prevention program that is making big waves in Puerto Rico.
Doral Bank decided to take the lead in the campaign against breast cancer and educate the Puerto Rican population on the island’s second leading cause of death in women.
Ruta Pink (meaning Pink Route) is the route traveled by the pink mammogram bus that makes stops through towns across the island offering free mammograms, biopsies and referrals to both women and men, with or without health insurance.
With early detection leading to a 98% survival rate, the Ruta Pink program is also offering free educational seminars on breast cancer prevention.
And with every Pink account that is opened at Doral, the bank makes a contribution to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Since its implementation last summer, over 2,000 women have received mammograms. With breast cancer awareness month just around the corner, Doral’s Ruta Pink initiative is paving the way for prevention and education.
