The NEW McCarren Hotel & Pool

Located in the heart of Williamsburg, the McCarren Hotel & Pool is a (semi) new player in the pool side party game.  Formerly the King & Grove Hotel, the property is in the midst of a major rebrand and so far it’s pretty great. We spent yesterday’s scorcher of a day poolside on a daybed sipping McCarren Spritzer cocktails and boy was it a nice way to beat the heat.  As you may have guessed, pool access is not just for hotel guests.  Pool passes are available 24 hours in advance and can be purchased for $45 on weekdays (11am-4:30pm), $55 on weekends (11am-4:30pm), and $30 for evening swims (5-9pm). You can also purchase frequent swim packages.

In addition to the lovely ground level pool scene, the hotel is also home to The Elm restaurant, run by Michelin-starred chef and New York treasure, Pail Liebrandt.  The restaurant made a number of best new restaurant lists just last year and is definitely worth the trip. Make sure you try the Crispy Pork Belly and the Avocado Gazpacho and call ahead for a reservation, as this place is VERY popular.

And then there’s the roof, located on the 8th floor of the hotel.  The rooftop lounge overlooks McCarren Park and offers incredible, unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline.  The roof at McCarren Hotel & Pool is the place to go for cocktails and music under the starts.  With it’s kick off party taking place this Friday night, expect a roster of DJ’s and events all summer long. The rooftop lounge is open from 6pm-2am Wednesday-Saturday and from 5pm-12am on Sunday.
